Context:
Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss child relief agency. The Foundation has been helping children in need for over 60 years; defending their rights regardless of their race, creed or political affiliation. In over 40 countries, Tdh protects children against exploitation and violence, improves children’s and their mother’s health and provides emergency psychological and material support in humanitarian crises.
In Greece, Tdh has been working through partners since 2006 and has directly provided integrated child protection and youth services (case management, shelter, MHPSS, education and life-skills, etc.) since March 2016. The overall goal of Tdh’s continued interventions in Greece is to improve the protective environment for at risk children and youth and enhance their resilience.

General Position Description:
The Child Protection Project Coordinator (PC) is a pivotal role in Tdh Hellas and is responsible for oversee-ing the effective implementation of projects which strengthen the child protection systems, increase child-safeguarding awareness and capacities and improve best practice amongst organisations and agencies in contact with children across Greece.
S/he is responsible for project planning and set-up, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and end of project transition. S/he ensures the timely implementation and quality of project activities, in accordance with the project/s objectives, targets, budgets and methodological frameworks.
As a member of Terre des hommes Hellas, s/he will supervise project staff and/or consultants and collabo-rate with other team members and partners to ensure effective project implementation. In addition, to moni-toring and updating workplans and budget forecasts the PC will ensure technical quality of project activities.
The CP PC should be an experienced project manager and effective communicator; with substantial knowledge of child protection and child safeguarding, they should be able to advise Tdh Hellas on policy making, research and project development while s/he will be tasked with building the Child Protection body of work of the organisation with the Deputy Director. S/he will be able to build reliable partnerships with lo-cal and national stakeholders, state and non-state actors, donors and supporters.
Key responsibilities:
Strategy and Vision
1. Participate in or support needs assessments in Tdh areas of operation in-country
2. Contribute to the development and review of the country-wide strategy
Team Management
3. Identify, recruit, train and supervise project staff and/or consultants
4. Ensure team members/consultants have a clear understanding of the project and Tdh Child Protection (CP) mandate
5. Contribute to a positive working environment and good team dynamics
6. Evaluate staff under direct responsibility on a regular basis and provide them with feedback in addition to sharing evaluations with HR
7. Develop team self-reliance and encourage collaboration
Project Management
8. Ensure projects are implemented in accordance with project methodology, objectives, indicators and budgets and in compliance with Tdh and donor requirements
9. Act as budget holder and collaborate with finance staff to update the budget forecast on a monthly basis
10. Develop, review and update project tools to support quality project implementation (e.g. workplans, SOPs, training modules, etc.) and ensure the submission of timely, accurate external and internal reports
11. Work with the M&E department to ensure an adequate monitoring and evaluation plan, complaints response mechanism, and tools are in place and oversee their effective implementation
12. Identify logistic and admin support needs and prepare procurement plans in line with the project needs and ensure the timely preparation of purchase requests and follow up with relevant departments
13. Ensure the effective flow of information between team and other delegation members (e.g. attending/holding regular meetings, being responsive to e-mails, and calls, etc.)
14. Based on changes in context and / or project learning, propose amendments to the project when necessary
Partnerships and Representation
15. Identify, build and manage collaborative partnerships, with sub-grantees, donors, local government and other project stakeholders and substantially contribute to grant-making for relevant projects
16. Participate in fora and meetings at local or regional level and liaise with humanitarian actors, authorities and other sector to disseminate information, best practices, lessons learned, etc. when required
Risk Management
17. Fully comply with Tdh’s Global Code of Conduct and systematically report any breach to the Code through the whistleblowing procedure: raises awareness within the Foundation on abuse and violence and the rights deriving therefrom, respecting the rights and dignity of children, members of the communities and our own Staff
18. Design and audit processes and procedures to eliminate or mitigate potential risks
19. Evaluate employees’ risk awareness and train them
20. Support management to identify security risks related to project implementation
Other
21. Regular travel will be required.
22. Perform other duties as required.
